The Art Of Teaching...
God definitely made me an artist, but I am also a teacher. I have recently accepted a position with Living Rock Academy, a new, private Christian school in Bulverde, Texas. I teach Art, Literature and Photography. It's a great school, and I feel that God led me there to be part of a new thing He's doing. And when I see my students comprehend a new concept, idea or skill, it feels almost miraculous. But, teaching is hard. There are days when I wonder what made me think I could ever teach anybody anything. I've felt that way several times just in this past week.
But, then at the end of the week, something truly inspiring happened. I got a Facebook message from the mom of one of my former Art students. (We have kept in touch, and I'm blessed to call her my friend.) She wanted me to look at her son's latest painting. Drew always loved to fish and paint fish. He's in high school now, but I taught him for years when he was in elementary school. Anyway, I'm so happy that he is still painting, and his new art piece is amazing. When I saw it, I felt so thankful that I had the chance to teach him - even if it was many years ago. And I can say, "I knew him when..."
"For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?"
Isaiah 43:19 NLT
